Troop 10 Expectations
1) The Outdoor Program
One excursion per month
One week at summer Camp (historically The third week in July at Camp Wanoksett)
One major excursion/project every two years
2) The Indoor Program (Sept - June)
Meetings Thursday nights in the basement of The Townsend Congregational Church
Published agenda (campout prep and advancement)
Provide training for boys:
Training for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class
Outdoor training (in preparation for outdoor program/activities)
Offer three merit badges per year
3) Advancement Philosophies
Three Courts of Honor per year
A boy will advance through First Class in one year, then one rank per year thereafter
4) Community Service (at least four/year)
Scouting for food
Townsend Congregation Church Harvest Fair
Earth Day food concession
Band Concert on the Common food Concession
Townsend Ecumenical Outreach
5) Social Events
Christmas Party
End of year party
Family night at summer camp
6) Troop Fundraising (A maximum of three activities per year to support Troop needs)
Christmas wreath sale (November)
Bottle and can drive (September and June)
7) Leader Training
Provide junior leader training
All Scout Masters, Assistant Scoutmasters and Committee members will be "rawhide" trained
Grooming for prospective Scout Masters
Safe swim afloat, BSA life guards
All adults will be "Youth Protection Trained"
8) Troop Committee Support
Adopts and executes a reasonable budget
Provides troop publicity (school handouts, local newspapers, Totem Pole News)
Provides troop equipment and excursion support
Provides support to the troop as needed
9) Membership
Make every scout and parent welcome at any scout function
Invite new boys to the troop (activities, scout night, Webelos night, Weblos campout)
Encourage Cub Scouts to graduate into Boy Scouts ( supply Den Chiefs to packs)
